Kevin H. Patel, MD
Retina Surgeon
Dr. Kevin Patel was born and raised in the northwest Chicago suburbs. He studied at the University of Illinois at Chicago for both his undergraduate and medical education. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. He earned his medical degree while also becoming a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Patel did his general ophthalmology residency training at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, one of the most well-respected ophthalmology centers in the country. While there, he was selected to be Chief Resident by his mentors. Following this, he completed a highly-competitive fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at California Pacific Medical Center/West Coast Retina in San Francisco. He then returned to the Chicagoland area to join Retina Associates.
Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. He helps coordinate the vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at J.H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he spends time teaching residents and fellows both in clinic and surgery. Dr. Patel has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has spoken at several national conferences. He also actively participates in a number of multi-center clinical trials focused on advances in retinal disease therapy.
Outside of work, Dr. Patel is a passionate fan of Chicago sports, and he loves traveling and enjoying the outdoors with his wife.
